Ok guys, this is the site of our future FREE dental clinic to help out the kids on the North Coast. We are partnered with Alberto Noesi who owns Anoeca which is a very popular investment house in Puerto Plata.
.
His offices are directly next door. He is supplying the building and renovating it to suit and first class I may add. This isn't going to be a slum dump. It will be a nice place you will feel comfortable in. To the left is Alberto's offices and you can see the class and taste that went into that building. We also will have 24 hour power courtesy of Alberto from his generator next door.
.
Alberto is a class guy that does things in the right way and I am honored to call him a friend and that he let us get involved with him!
.
I received the following email from Lissa Warden. I am printing it without permission but I am sure it will be ok with her. I have already asked her to lend a hand with the design end of this and she is a fabulous architect. Hell she has to be since she is designing my home for me! She also designed the QuiXote's project which is on hold at the moment.
.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Scott, I was reading your blog and it touched me very deeply, I found very interesting your project on helping kids in need. I want you to know that you can count on me on anything that I can help with. Just let me know and I'll be there. It's very noble of you do something like that. You might not know the impact on those kid's life when they get such a help. And there are many people out there willing to help they just don't know how, you can direct them, keep on the Good work, Congratulations!!! Lissa ps. let me know how can I help you...
---------------------------------------\\
Ok guys, you know me by now. I never look a gift horse in the mouth! Lissa is now Drafted to the "Kids Team".
.
My response to Lissa was something like this.
"I am not very noble. I do this for my own benefit and enjoyment and as a matter of fact I get so much enjoyment out of this that I sometimes feel guilty!"
.
This is from the bottom of my heart and everything I said I truly mean!
.
My friend Herbert is in town. He was the one that donated the dinner for two to Peter Lugars Steakhouse for the last auction. I took him to the Garden Kids School which is the private English/Spanish school that Dawn and I have put the little girl Disnalda in two years ago. I had to pay this months bill for Disnalda. The principal told me that Disnalda is FINALLY doing well in school. It was a tough transition for her as the Dominican School system really sucks to put it mildly. I have not only been paying for school but for afterschool help and tutoring to get her up to speed. This is the first positive news I have had.
.
This school is one of the finest private schools I have ever run across. I went to private school and my daughter went to private school so I have some idea what they are like.
.
When Herbert asked for the 25 Cent tour and we got to Disnaldas classroom she came running out to give me a hug and let me just tell you it was worth 10x what it has cost me in every way shape and form. Herbert was a NYC highschool teacher for 15 years and is now teaching at NYU so he also has a clue and he was very taken by the school.
.
Great things are happening it seems like we may be able to do more than I ever imagined for the children if everything falls into place. Please start bidding on the items in the auction and check out what we are doing. If you have cash donations that would be GREAT also as well as donating goods and services anywhere in the world for people to bid on. Email me or Carina.
.
Http://www.dominicankids.com is the website and we also have
Http://www.kidinbucket.com which points to the same site. We have launched our first campaign to promote the auction which is live right now using a picture I took of a kid in a bucket so hence the other site name.
.
Get involved folks. Together we can do great things.
.
Hasta Pronto!

kidinbucket.com

I am honored that Carina picked this picture for our first advertising campaign. A picture like this is too classic to be contrived and it was taken in El Tablon right where the river meets the ocean in Charimicos which is the worst part of the Dominican section of Sosua. These are the type of children we are trying to help. The little girl Disnalda who Dawn and I have put in a private English/Spanish school is from this area of Sosua. I will never forget the first time I drove down this street with Dawn and saw the conditions that these people live in such as Mud Streets and sidewalks and tin roofed wooden shacks, I told Dawn "I finally understand what makes so many turn to Prostitution and if I was in their position I may have also considered it in order to escape these conditions". My first take on this was wrong. These are good people that live here and I have to tell you I also believe that they are happy despite their lack of "things" and "comfort". I guess it is impossible to miss things you have never had.

These two ads are our first advertising campain to get traffic to our website. On the website there is a online auction of goods and services donated by both people in the Dominican Republic and abroad. This auction closes on Easter Sunday April 16th at 4pm. The highest bidders win the items. Our last Auction which was held on Thanksgiving day raised over 6500 US dollars which is huge for here. With that money and in conjunction with Alberto Noesi, a Dominican Business man who owns Anoeca, a finance house in Puerto Plata we are opening up a Free Dental Clinic that will offer services first to Children and then to Adults time permitting. We, thanks to Alberto, have a building to use in Downtown Puerto Plata. We are beginning renovations with funds provided by Alberto and once done will purchase equiptment needed for the clinic, waiting room and offices. We have already began the non profit incorporation process and the name of the company is going to be "Ninos Dominicanos" which is Dominican Kids in Spanish. Please copy these ads and put them on your blogs and websites. Right click mouse, and then click "save picture as" . You will then have these on your computers and be able to upload to your site or file attach e mail them to your friends who can do the same.

Government and Tourism???

Government to invest US$800 million in tourism Santo Domingo.- The Tourism Minister assured that the current administration has dedicated more resources to promoting tourism in the country than any other.
Read rest of story here:
This is a crock of crap just like when Leonel was here and said he was going to improve the road along the North Coast. A year later improvements end at Sea Horse Ranch and now the road is so dangerous I thought I was going to lose my front end of my car going to Cabrera.
Shame that they don't fix the most important road on the whole North Coast and Shame on them that they BLABBER so much and do so little.
Please go to the new Childrens Benefit Auction Website and place a bid!
Give me feedback please.

Almost ready to go LIVE!

OUR Graphic Art Department (Carina, Pocoloco Web Design) is working overtime putting the starting touches on the NEW Website to benefit both Dominican Kids and Adults. The emphasis is on the Children but we hope to expand to helping the adult population as soon as possible.
.
The first moneys raised are going towards the opening of a Free Dental Clinic with one full time Dentist to start. The building can accomodate many more professionals in many different fields and we will start renovating and operating as soon as money flows in. We are going to start immediately with the Dental part of it and go on and on from their. This is our Welcome Page and we are near the beginning but LOOK out, we will have a great site up before you know it. No one is making a dime on this and it is all going to help the poor of the North Coast of the Dominican Republic.
.
If you or if you know anyone that can lend some expertise to this project please have them contact me.
.
If you or anyone you know is interested in donating money please have them contact me.
.
If you or anyone you know can donate goods or services for our upcoming silent auction which will end on Easter Sunday please contact me.
.
We all have good networks and if we all reach out just a little bit we can make this auction and event bigger than the Thanksgiving Bash where we raised over 6500 US Dollars.

A new place

AvocadoBrian sent me this picture telling me this was the building Alberto wanted to build the Clinic in. I am not sure that it is actually and I believe this is the wrong building but I will figure this all out in the next week or so. . We are now getting the website ready and hopefully it will be up in the next couple of days. We are running kind of behind and these things always run up on you when you think you have all the time in the world. . If you or anyone you know who is generous is able to donate some money or goods or services to our Childrens Benefit please get in touch with me at Jazzpaging@yahoo.com. . With your help we can so some good things for the Kids and maybe even some adults on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. We will be announcing the website very soon and hopefully we will be able to generate some serious interest in raising money and doing more than the Dental Clinic we are already working on. Who knows, if we generate enough funds this time around possibly we can expand the clinic and hire a Doctor. . All I know is that this is tremendously exciting and a great opportunity to do some good here in the Dominican Republic. Please remember that there is no social fall back infrastructure here to help people but we can put that in place here! . Tonight a bunch of us are getting together at Dori's Restaurant which is located inside of Eddys Sports Bar in Sosua. It is on the street right off the main street. Turn by Banco Reservas and Super Super Liquor Store! A bit more than halfway down the street on the Right hand side. We are going to be at least 16-20 so please join us! Hasta Pronto! PS>I put a new button on the side that will take you to Google to sign up for Adsense for your website. This will give you an opportunity to bring links to your site and everyone that clicks on it will make you some money. Check it out!
Good morning you all!

Someone sent me this LOGO for Dawn. They said she can listen to this new station when she goes back to Montana.

.

Now I don't know about the rest of you guys but everytime I hear country music I feel like making love to my sister. It just rubs me the wrong way. I NEED rock and roll. Don't misunderstand, I like Jazz, Blues, Classical, some reggae, Ska and a whole lot more but Country? Gimme a break!

.

I had breakfast at Britannia again today. Eggs benedict. Good stuff. 135 pesos with Juice, Fruit cup, Coffee, Potatoes and of course the eggs up on a split English muffin with Ham and Hollandaise Sause. Good stuff!

.

A Brittish fellow came to the table to tell me he reads my blog religiously. That was nice and I thank you. Nice to know that you preach to someone and just don't talk to yourself. I also got email from Mary in Texas. Good to know you still read my drivel Mary!

Someone made this comment on the last bit.

"james said... do you really think this fellow got locked up all that time just because? there has to be something more to it. a fine upstanding community guy with a good job and could afford some of the best lawyers around. i see your point about it being scary and all and i have followed your blog since its start on that white pasty guys forum but you know yourself, your a bussiness man in the dominican whether you think so or not. you have to ask yourself how could you end up in that kind of trouble or that situation. this mans name wasn't pulled from a hat.love the blog, not slagging here. something just seems amiss here. "

.

I was just going to comment to the comment but felt I needed to expand a bit more and make the rest of you read it instead of having to go to the comments first.

.

I read the article in question in the Miami Herald. It wasn't on a website DRblahblah where you see lots of nonsense. This is what I think may be a respectable publication. Now, do I believe everything they say in the papers? Hell NO! Papers are less likely going to print correct info than the Government here will refuse a bribe! That being said, the newspaper article said that there was false evidence provided the court and it was all nonsense. They went further to say that they present government of the Dominican Republic was just trying to discredit the previous government.

.

I was hoping for some further info and actually get a better handle on this. If you take the time to read the article you will see what I am saying and what scares me. Terrible business this!

.

I had two friends come in from NY today. Actually I had 4 friends come in from NY but I picked up only 2 because I didn't have enough room. Debbie who I picked up yesterday picked up 2 of the people I couldn't accomodate. Welcome home Herman, Bill, Mario and Howard.

.

I had dinner with 2 of my friends in Costambar tonight at Cafe Negril. Had that Sea Bass with Saffron sauce and it was GREAT!

.

Tomorrow or actually tonight, Friday, a whole bunch of us are having dinner at Dori's Restaurant in Eddys Sports Bar. So far we have Debbie and Brian, Herman and Bill, Howard, Mario and dates, Niko the Commie, Me, Rob and Sandy from Taco Tuesday and possibly another buddy of mine Ted and Grahame and Robin, and last but not least, Herbert who flies in tomorrow and I am picking up at the airport.. 16 people as starters. If you are in town and want to hang out with us just show up at 7pm for dinner. You will be welcomed.

.

Thats all folks!

This is real Scary! It could happen to anyone!

Posted on Wed, Mar. 08, 2006 DOMINICAN REPUBLIC Multimillion-dollar car deal turned to legal nightmare A multimillion-dollar sale of vehicles to the Dominican Republic seemed like a winning deal for a Miami businessman. It turned into a legal nightmare that almost ended with him being sent to the Caribbean nation on false bribery charges. BY JAY WEAVER jweaver@MiamiHerald.com Life was good for Shlomo Ben-Tov. He was married with three sons, lived in a comfortable home in posh Pinecrest and had a high-paying job as Hyundai's distributor for Latin America. Until the afternoon of Aug. 15. That's when three U.S. marshals marched into his Palmetto Bay office and handcuffed him on a warrant issued by the Dominican Republic. The charge: bribing top Dominican government officials who approved a $56 million contract for the purchase of Hyundai buses and trucks. Ben-Tov spent seven months in a closet-like cell at the Miami Federal Detention Center -- linked to his wife and three sons by brief daily phone calls -- as he desperately fought the Dominican government's extradition request argued by the U.S Attorney's Office.
Rest of Story:
Man just reading this gave me the willies. This kind of crap can happen to anyone. I hope I hear something contrary to this soon that disproves what this article is saying!
Hasta Pronto!

Last night I went to Taco Tuesday with Lorraine and Ray who live in the same condo complex I live in.

.

For the first time that I can remember there were more people I didn't know there then there were people I do know. Heck most times there are more people I have recommended to go there, there, then others in total. The folks that own Checkpoint Bar on Beachway Plaza in Sosua were there along with JR who I knew but heck the rest I had no clue about.

.

I usually am the first person there at Taco Tuesdays. I like getting there early so I can just soak up the view of the ocean and the atmosphere while it is quiet and before I have to be a social animal. Last night there were 20 people there before me. When my friends Camden Tom and Mary got to the joint which was fairly early, the food was all gone. They had to go somewhere else for dinner but stayed for a few beers.

.

Man, I leave town for 2 weeks along with the owners of the place and it becomes the most popular gig on the North Coast! Rob and Sandy have been in Seatle for about 3 weeks at their daughters wedding but return Thursday. Someone should call them and tell them to stay so they can make money! LOL

.

Today Brian and Debbie arrive from Canada and I will be picking them up at the plane. Tomorrow I have another 2 groups of friends coming down and I had to recruit Brian and Debbie to help me round them all up from the Airport. Whoopie, more people to hang with!

.

Friday at 7pm a bunch of us are going to have dinner at Dori's Restaurant in Eddys Sports Bar in Sosua. So far Tom, Mary, Niko and myself and possibly Grahame and Robin are coming. I am sure that Debbie, Brian, Herman, my two friends coming tomorrow and a whole bunch more will be there. Whoopie, a dinner party! If you want to join us just show up at Eddys!

A sculpture for a King!

Today we had some problems with our generator. I just got to know what it feels like to be
inconvienenced by the electric problems. My condo has a generator and we are always 24/7 on except today. Not a big deal for one day but I feel sorry for people that have to change their days depending on the availability of electric from the street.
.
Don't misunderstand I am not humbled yet, just had an excercize in seeing how others have to live. Tomorrow or actually now I am back to my self:)
.
. I just got finished reading email from Dawn. She asked me where I was all day as she tried to call me. I have one of those vonage phones but without electric, I have no internet so my phone didn't even ring.
.
One of the Sculptures sold in Florida through one of our reps was shipped by private plane yesterday to Saudi Arabia. She found out today it is going to the King. Cool! If a commission from Saudi Arabia comes in I won't know what to do. I am afraid my buddy AZB will have his Terrorist buddies there to TAKE ME OUT! LOL . Hell, when it is over it is over. Any day is a good day to die but I don't think I will want to go to Saudi Arabia. Way too controled there for my taste. Dawn can do that commission all alone! No EXcott allowed:) . I had breakfast and lunch today at Brittania Pub on Pedro Clisante in Sosua, Dominican Republic. Liam and his partner have done a great job with their renovations and a superb job on the menu and preparations since purchasing it fairly recently. I guess that is why every seat in the place has been taken both during breakfast and also lunch. These are classy guys that know how to operate a classy business and when you do things right they PAY OFF and I am certain these guys are going to be as busy as that space will allow! Hell they are already. . Liam told me at lunch that tomorrow they bring in their complete menu. I asked him to email it to me so I can post it here. I look forward to seeing it. . Tonight is Taco Tuesday and I am looking forward to going since I have not been there in a few weeks. Hopefully we will get a nice crowd there as the weather is fabulous today. It will be nice to see a bunch of folks I haven't seen in a while. . I spoke with Alberto this morning regarding using the money raised to do this Free Dental Clinic for children on the North Coast and told him it was a go. I spoke with just about everyone involved in the raising of the money and everyone felt it was a great idea. We will visit the building this week to discuss how we are going to renovate the space to suit our plans for now and in the future. I thanked Alberto for allowing me to get involved with this project. I think it is very exciting. We spoke briefly about even some small things such as childrens books in the waiting room and agreed to discuss many things on Friday. . I have been doing the Rosetta Stone Spanish Course on Computer. My battery charger broke and just replaced it so I am going to get back into it. I should just buy me a teacher but that would mean I would have to spend the time with a person and cut into my private time so I will stick with the computer:) . I got a call from my attorney today and we are going to Santo Domingo in a couple of weeks to pick up my Passport and new Cedula. I will be glad to get that over with as it has been a long time since I got sworn in as a Dominican last year. Yahoo! . My boy Jackie returns today to Connecticut. It seemed that he had a real nice time here on his extended trip. He is looking forward to returning next month. Good for him. Tomorrow and the next day I have a lot of friends coming into town. YEAH! Can't wait to see them. Nice to have them back. Herbert, when are you returning? Dawn said soon but I would like to hear from you! . okey dokey folks, I have just about said everything on my mind. I will practice my Panish for a while then take a shower and get smelling good for Taco Tuesday! Maybe I will get a big kiss from my wife when I get there! . Hasta Pronto!
PS>I made $4.37 yesterday, thanks, I had eggs benedict at Brittania today and it was delicious! Keep on checking out the Google ads as they are very informative and I am very hungry:) Tomorrow I can only have the Bacon Egg and Cheese with Coffee as you have only done $2.70 so far today. Heck I even have some money for a tip left over!

Thanks to Frank the Tank

Great to get email from friends!
Just got email from Frank the Tank. He is donating $100 US Dollars Cash to the Auction. Thanks Frank for a great donation to help the People of the Dominican Republic. We all appreciate it and so will the folks we are going to help!
.
Along with his donation I received this picture from him and the following note:
.
"PS: you may have had fun driving around in your Aston Martin, but check out the attached picture of the type of car I drive. No speed limits, stops signs or red lights for me."
.
Some people have a sense of humor and a sense of Charity. Thanks again Frank for your generosity in every way!!

Great Info to have!

This will give you all the charts to figure out size of land to the penny and also has a monetary conversion.

Great Resourse to keep for the Dominican Republic!

A little bit of Britain in your Life... And the kids

This is one of the photo's I took while in Florida. This particular jumper just may be one of the Ten Best in the World and is owned by Double H Farms. .
The young woman riding the horse is Casey Harrison and I have watched her jump for 2 years now. She didn't do so well at this particular show but she has certainly improved on her skills many fold since I have been watching her. She didn't come in the money and she was pretty discouraged. I just hope she gets back on the circuit and doesn't give up!
. I had breakfast at the Britannia Pub this morning. It is located on Pedro Clisante in Sosua, Dominican Republic. In case you didn't know it this place is under new ownership and it is a nice looking comfortable place to hang out. One of the partners who I am friends with Liam is a sweet nice man and is always polite and a gentleman and evidently has very good taste. The renovation is a complete change and it is real comfortable right down to the art on the walls! . I had a Bacon Egg and Cheese on a Bagel this morning with coffe for 75 Pesos! Tasted as good as you can get a simple breakfast to taste and the coffee mugs were the LARGE SIZE which is how I prefer to drink it. Don't have to continue to ask to have the thimble filled up:)
.
I want to thank you all for buying me that breakfast! Already this morning I have made $2.51 on the Google Ads. Yesterday I made over $4 bux so it definately even covered the $25 peso tip. Keep checking them out and enjoying the info provided and I will keep having breakfast and saying thank you! .
Yesterday after the Bbq (I ended up cooking the food on the grill) I went out with Jackie Quontree. I have to tell you that this crazy indian drinks like he is on the warpath. This pasty white boy canNOT keep up with him and I freely admit it! Not only that but I swear we have different metabolism. I had to go to the bano 10 times last night and I don't think he got up off his ass once.
.
It was a fun night and Jackie stayed at my condo instead of driving back to Puerto Plata which made me happy. Last time we did this he insisted on driving back to Puerto Plata at 3am which didn't make me comfortable. I don't want anything to happen to him after hanging out with me. Any other time who cares!:)
.
When I looked at his face at 9am this morning I knew that SOB was paying the price this time! Yeah Jackie, you looked like crap! Just so you know I ran into your young British friend last night after I left you to go home and he asked for you. Don't know why but he mentioned something about tongue but I couldnt quite understand it! I said goodnight and pointed him in your direction and went home to bed! LOL
.
Tonight Jackie and I are having dinner in Costambar. I found this Restaurant a while ago called Cafe Negril which is located in Atlantico One Apartments. I eat here every time I get to Costambar since my first meal there. Sea Bass in Saffron, New England Clam Chowder and Key Lime Pie was what I had the last time with my buddy Edd (Rellosk) and it felt like everything just melted in my mouth. Hell I am not even a fan of Key Lime Pie but the owner Mickey told me to have it and it was GREAT!
.
Tonight if the owner is there I am just going to tell him to order for me. I eat everything that doesn't eat me first and I can't wait to see what he orders and serves me tonight.
.
It is a rainy cool morning here in Sosua. Nothing much doing today other than getting a new cell phone hooked up. I was out first thing this morning but the cell phone store wasn't open for some reason. After I get this finished I will try again and then get a Massage for an hour. Of course after the massage I will need a shower to wash the oil off and then maybe I will catch up on my beauty sleep!
.
The new cell phone has not only a camera but a camcorder. It is the LG 6200. If anyone knows how to sync it to my computer let me know. I have the cable and the software but for some reason the software doesn't recognize either of my LG 6100 or 6200 phones but the computer does. If you have the software that will do this for me I would appreciate it you could email it to Jazzpaging@yahoo.com . I use Windows XP Multi Media Edition if that makes a difference.
.
I picked up a new computer with that AMD Turion 64 bit processor when I was in Florida. I also tried the software on my Toshiba Laptop and it didn't work there either for some reason. HELP!
.
We have decided to put the money raised from the last Auction in helping to setup and build a Free Dental Clinic. We are doing this along with Alberto who runs the finance house in Puerto Plata that a lot of my friends and myself invest in. He has a building next door to his office that he bought to protect himself and is going to renovate the offices in there. He will also donate office space to others that will give free services to the poor of the North Coast.
.
Who knows, maybe first a dental clinic and maybe after the Easter Auction a Kidney dialisis machine or something else just as needed. Stay tuned folks, we are about to do some great stuff here on the North Coast that will have an impact on the people here TODAY! This is not a cure all but we will have an impact in the local area.
.
Remember please email Carina or me at Jazzpaging@yahoo.com with any donations of either goods or services or good old cold cash! Help us do some great things here with your donations!

Little bit of Dis and little bit of Dat!

My friend Shad in Toronto sent me this picture of a Aston Martin which is exactly like the car I used in Florida with the exception of mine was in British Racing Green which I have been told is the only colour to have one of these babies in. He said he had it on his desk and he was pissed that I was actually driving one of these bad boys.

.

I know he was only kidding and he sent this to me to keep until I returned to Florida. Shad is a decent guy any day of the week and petty jealousy is not part of him or his being! Funny thing about having this car to drive and also having something bigger in the same garage after driving it the first time I drove the other car until the day before I left. I felt that it was almost obligatory to drive that bad boy once again. I am thankful to my buddy that gave me the opportunity to even see this car for the first time in my life that I can remember. All that being said next time with a Range Rover and an Aston Martin in the Driveway I will get into the Rover for reasons I am not sure I even understand.

.

That friend who lovingly provided a roof over my head and cars to drive when I was in Florida is coming this week to the Dominican Republic along with another real nice fellow and I can't wait to see them! Great guy and very pleasant company always and a treat to have around always! He is a golfer and pays 1000 US a month for his golf membership in Florida where he rarely goes. He spends a lot of time here in the Dominican Republic and was here 5-8 weeks ago last. It is a treat for me to see him here. I always try to hook up with him in the States when I am there and here we hang out for days instead of an evening for dinner and drinks which suits me better.

.

Today I have an airport pick up of a guy from Canada who has stayed in my condo several times but since my friends are coming down I can't put him up this trip but I felt like picking his stanky arse up from the airport anyway. He gets in at 11:30 am which is great because at 1pm I am going to a friends Bbq up in Puerto Plata which I am looking forward to. It all works out for me timewise today and I don't have to do the racing around that causes stress. Great!

.

This week I have several friends coming to town. Debbie and Brian, Herman, Ted, Mario and Howard and probably a few more that I forgot already. Be great to see them all and do some hanging out and sharing meals. My boy Dori who has the restaurant in Eddys Sports Bar will be a busy guy with everyone in town. When I was in Florida I have loads of Thai and Sushi so I have been only had Salads and Fish and Chips since Wednesdays return. I am looking forward to Dori's Thai Curry and Japanese Noodle dishes. They are my favorite meals on the Island!

.

I will hang out with Carina at the Bbq today and discuss how we are going to get the Auction done and promote both the dinner and the auction. Hopefully between Carina, Jackie and myself we can make some headway with the upcoming project. Please remember if you have any goods and services to donate or even cold cash drop me a line. This is the rush now since it is coming up quickly so reach down deep and please help out our efforts. We should also know where the past money is going to be used by next week. I am pretty sure it will be outfitting a free dental clinic and office building that will offer free space to professionals that will also give out free health services. Matter of fact, my friend Jillian is a speech therapist who is getting fluent in Spanish. Maybe I can talk to her about donating some of her time when she is here. I am actually sure that would be no problem as she is a fine person. She was my daughters FIRST baby sitter. My wife and Jillian were doing the speech and hearing masters at the same time and we had all Masters Students as babysitters. My daughter was a lucky gal!

.

Thats about it for today folks, hope you have a smashing Sunday. Here in the Dominican Republic the weather is real nice although at about 3am I heard torrential showers. I look forward to seeing friends at the Bbq today and hanging out getting fat!:)

.

Hasta Pronto!

PS> I made $4.43 yesterday with the google adsense. You guys bought me a real nice breakfast this morning!:)

Easter Dinner in the Dominican Republic

Yeah, here is another picture of Dominican Republic Electric. This is one of the calmer streets and had the most normal wire job I have seen here. . I went to Cabrera today to take care of some business. I stopped off at my friend Stephan Shadleys Farm to say hi to him and his family. They are doing well and that was nice to see! . The road from before Gaspar Hernandez to after Rio San Juan were absolutely horrible and just about dangerous. This government should be ashamed at what the main road on the whole North Coast looks like and the danger they are putting the people in here. Great way to stimulate tourism GUYS. I guess that is why I read in Http://www.dominicantoday.com that tourism is down everywhere but Punta Cana. Those fools better wake up and smell the roses. If tourism goes there AIN'T much left. . 399 $ RD per person OF which 74 Pesos goes to the Kids. . This is the second fundraiser I along with a bunch of other people have put on. First one was on Thanksgiving where we raised over $6500 US dollars which is HUGE for this country. We already have people donate 1500 US dollars towards this event along with a lot of goods and services. We had a $500 Voucher for Foxwoods Resorts and Casino, Dinner for 2 at Peter Lugars and many more things from the US and Many many things from the Dominican Republic. . If yo want to donate goods or services or even Cash please contact me at jazzpaging@yahoo.com and I will forward this to the right person for inclusion. Please help us help the poor children of the North Coast of the Dominican Republic! If you want to speak with me you can call me at 809-223-1178 on my cell phone or at 845-810-0212 which is a New York number that rings at my home in the Dominican Republic. . The Radio Station 92.5 Rubi Closed it's Doors Recently so we can't depend on them to help out promoting this so we are going to promote this on blogs and on different message boards. We probably won't be posting on DR1 since the pasty white boy Robert got upset when I wouldn't let him direct the money we already raised for the kids to go to the benefit of the reefs here. I couldnt let that happen because I promoted the kids and don't want to look like a fool and NOT help the kids here. I don't really care although the message board was a great help last time and we will probably not do as well as the last time because of Roberts immaturity. Guess it was all about him and how many BROWNIE Points he could have gotten instead of what is good for the poor kids of this country.

. Hasta Pronto!

Sleazed out

Yeah ok, so your have seen this classic picture of Dominican Electric before. Gimme a break, my camera is in Florida with Dawn being used hopefully for business.
.
Yesterday as I was going out of my house to head up to Puerto Plata this guy is walking towards my front door. .
One thing I dislike is when people show up at your door unannounced and especially when they aren't your good friends. Even then I find it annoying. Anyone ever tell you that is what phones are all about?
.
This guy has some papers in his hands and he starts talking to me. I tell him I am on my way somewhere and he keeps talking. I stop to see what he is talking about. A few months ago Dawn and I were going to Santiago to do some shopping and this creep comes to my house UNANNOUNCED and asks me to pick him up a weed wacker from Pricemart in Santiago.
.
I say reluctantly ok. When we go shopping I have a full car coming back but I hate to say no to people. He tells me that it is the only weed wacker in the store so I say ok. He gives me something like 4200 Pesos to buy this. I say to him that sounds real cheap and did he give me the 16 % tax. He says there is no tax on it.
.
We get there and not only is it 5900 pesos or something close to that but there is the 16% itbis tax on top of that. I lay out the money for Creepo and get a seperate receit for it to bring back.
.
This CREEP is arguing with me at my car yesterday morning that there isn't tax and it was for my "Platinum Membership" to Pricemart. I get back out of my car and stand up in his face and say "That wasn't for my membership, it was for your weed trimmer and I will be happy to go back to Pricemart and talk to anyone about it. This creep says "This is what they told me on the phone so this is what is true". I said "I don't give a crap what they told you on the phone, that bill was for exactly what I had to pay for your Weed Wacker.
.
Point of the story is to NEVER do favors for creeps. If this SOB comes to my freaking door again without calling me first I am going to tell him to call for a flucking appointment. Man some people aren't worth the skin they were made with! Annoying twit put me out and then tries to fill me up with his BS. Sorry I bothered trying to be a nice guy when I don't even like the creep.
.
On the way up to Puerto Plata yesterday I called Alberto to make sure we hook up as that is the reason I was going there. He must have been in a bad Cell spot and didn't answer so I called my boy Jackie to take him out to dinner. He says fine and he even has time to wash his ass before I get there. I then call Carina and ask her if she had lunch yet and I tell her I will grab her up after I grab up my boy Jackie and she informs me she is at Jackies house. Hmm... well that is a convience but a surprise. Of course Jackie tells me later that he told me she was there. Hmm... I know we were out till 2-3 am last night but am I losing it??
.
I take them to this nice place I found a few months ago which is on the road where the chinese restaurant is located. Coming from Sosua it is past the Chinese Restaurant on the other side of the road. Sorry I don't know the name nor do I know the street it is located on however it is a real nice place.
.
We drive up the long driveway and park. We sit down at a table on a very comfortable veranda that has a lot of shade and a nice breeze over looking a old established garden. Food is good and the prices are reasonable. 22 bux for three people having real lunches with tableclothes and a sweet looking waitress. Carina and I are busting Jackies Arse during lunch about his British Boyfriend from the night before. Poor guy ends up saying "I need to get a girlfriend so people dont think I am gay". What more in life can you ask for? Good meal, good friends and Laughing my arse off at what happened to Jackie the night before. Priceless, for everything else "MasterCard".
.
After lunch Carina and I drop off Jackie at his house where he is waiting for workmen to show up and complete some work. Off we go looking for a building for me that is a warehouse type building right in downtown POP that has a garage door. I want to make a Loft type residence that looks nothing like it from the outside. People don't know why I want to do this but I can't wait to find a property to get that done!
.
Afterwards I get ahold of Alberto and head to his office. After taking care of business we sat and chatted for a while. Aberto bought the building next to his office and says he wants to put in a free dental clinic there for the poor people that cant afford proper care. Now this makes me think about the money we raised for the kids at the auction in the past and the ones in the future. He will also provide free office space to those that want to practice there and give free care to the poor people.
.
I get home and email to Dawn, Carina and Jackie asking for feedback on whether this is as good of a use for the money as I thought it was in their opinions. So far Carina has responded with the thumbs up so I am just waiting to hear from Jackie and Dawn.
.
My thoughts are that we can possibly build this up into a full blown healthcare center for poor children and people and continue to fund this with monies raised. Perhaps we can even work out free transportation from other places here to be even more effective.
.
I was so glad to hear that Alberto was thinking along these lines. I was almost about to hit him up for some cash for the Easter Silent Auction. This is a much better use of these funds than what the pasty white guy Robert had in mind which was for the Reefs. REEFS? I raised money for the KIDS, whatever got into the pasty white boy?
.
Last night I went to sleep at 8pm. At first I was going to take a nap and go out later in the evening but I said to hell with it. I am going to rest this tired old body of mine and slept till 6am which felt great!
.
I don't know what I am going to do this weekend but I do have to go to Cabrera in the next week. Maybe I will head out that way today. I have a BBQ at a friends house tomorrow at 3pm so maybe I will pack a bag and stay over night and get back in the afternoon.
.
Monday night Jackie and I are headed over to Cafe Negril in Costambar for dinner. It is a great place and he has already had dinner there and enjoyed it. If anyone wants to join us you can meet us there at 7:30pm on Monday. It is located inside Atlantico One Apartment complex catty corner from a pizza restaurant. I don't have the name of the Restaurant but the owner Mickeys phone number is 809-396-5208 if you get lost. If you are British Bald and Gay Jackie would probably appreciate you showing up! LOL
.
Hasta Pronto!
PS> Yesterday I made 3.16 on the Google ads. I want to thank you guys for buying me breakfast! Keep up the good work. Only 14 cents so far today:) The google ads are usually interesting and informative anyway!

You don't know JACK!

This picture is of Dawn putting down some pictures on a table next to a sculpture of a horse that she had been previously commissioned to do that was a gold medal winner in the Olympics in the house of the person that rode her in Athens.
.
When we were in Florida we ran into him giving a lesson to another rider and he told us to stop over at his house and have a look at where he placed the sculpture which he held in such high regard. This piece is the centerpiece of his Living Room in one of the most comfortable homes you can imagine, right next to the show grounds in Wellington.
.
Last night my buddy Jackie Quontree came to town to share a meal at Dori's Restaurant in Sosua. Jackie had the ribs and I had a Thai Sesame Chicken Salad which was fantastic as usual. After we had dinner we stopped at my house to pick up a few things I brought back for Jack from the states when Dawn called.
.
Dawn is becoming a marketing maniac for her own work lately and informed me that someone from Saudi Arabia purchased one of her limited edition pieces that sold for sold for over 5 grand. More great news from a very successful business trip to the states for Dawn and I was happy to hear it.
.
She is probably following the guy around the Horse Show as we speak to try and convince him to commission her to do a sculpture of a lifesize horse for his country:)
.
After we got off the phone with Dawn Jackie decides to NOT go back to Puerto Plata and to stay in Sosua for some male bonding. I bet you think Jackie and I were doing the bonding but let me tell you a funny story. .
We went to a corner bar by the name of Plutos where I like hanging out. We sit and order a few beers and chat away for about an hour. A couple of guys come over and one guy tells me that he is friends with Ian (Tamborista) and just wanted to introduce himself and say hi.
.
Well before you know it the other guy who happened to be British was kissing Jackie and I was laughing so hard my eyes were tearing and I had to get a napkin to wipe them off in order to see out of them. In our conversation which included a lot of banter I told the guy that we owed the UK a lot for providing gay people in this world and we were laughing and having a good time. Before you knew it he was kissing Jackie and Jackie was telling him that I was right in the statement previously stated:)
.
It was all in good fun and Jackie and I said our goodbyes and went down the road to say hello to Lou and hang out at the Shark bar which is having its pre opening Opening. Louie had a bunch of friends in and he cooked food for them so I even got to eat a second meal last night. Grilled chicken, Baked Ziti and some Sausage N Onions. I needed to eat again at 11:30 to soak up some of the Alcohol that Jackie was forcefeeding me. Let me tell you something folks in case you don't already know it. "NEVER TRY AND GO DRINKING WITH AN INDIAN". You simply can't keep up and they never even stumble even after drinking 20 drinks and 15 beers. It just don't work and you can never win. I learned my lesson last night. I am going to have to knock on his legs next time I see him to see which one is hollow.
.
It is now before 9am and I am up and living. What I can't believe is that I had beer and scotch last night and don't suffer any hangover at all. Yesterday I had a doosey which is leading me to believe that it was a travel induced headache instead of a hangover! I am simply not a good traveler I guess.
.
Today I need to go to Puerto Plata to see my buddy Alberto to get some business done. Maybe I will give Carina a call and recruit her to help me find a piece of property in Puerto Plata I am looking for. I am looking for a warehouse or commercial space with a garage door to purchase. I want to make this a living loft type space right in the middle of the city. I want to be able to drive my car in via Automatic Garage Door opener and renovate the place to an open loft living space.
. I know to some this sounds weird but it is a project I have been wanting to do and heck I may as well get it done sooner than later! Perhaps I will buy some cheap wine and dig up Jackie to hang out with me in Central Park in Puerto Plata tonight. I have always admired the winos that hang out in parks. Must be nice to hang out in a well landscaped place and doing some social drinking. I look forward to this. Maybe I can con Jackie out of the bottle of wine he brought back for Dawn for this project!
.
I am waiting for my maid to arrive so I can let her in. She will put up a pot of coffee and serve it to me in bed and then I will get into a hot shower and begin my day. Could be worse ya know!
.
Have a great day. I will be soon off to the races!
.
Hasta Pronto!

PS> Yesterday I made $2.01 from the Google Adsense. You guys need to click more both for the great links to Dominican related sites and also to buy my breakfast. Things are more expensive here these days and 2 bux don't do breakfast anymore!

As Arnold once said...

I'm BACK........................
I returned yesterday from Florida in the late afternoon. My trip was a success and Dawn has a lot of work to get done now. Funny thing is that I didn't do much. I got email from a guy that had been a guest in my condo and he wanted to get together so we did and met at the Horse Show at the Polo Club in West Palm.
.
When I was talking to him Dawn lines up 3 commissions. Man she couldn't wait to rub that one in my face:) So now I am back and Dawn AIN'T because she now has to do some life work on the commissions. Too bad on Dawn, I had my rice and beans last night!
.
I probably gained 15 pounds in the states in only 2 weeks. Man the portions they serve are HUGE! Now I have to get back on track. I am going to join the Gym tomorrow. Can't today because I have a hangover. I will watch what I eat and be beautiful again in 2 shakes. I can see why there are a lot of fat people in the states. THEY EAT LIKE CRAZY!
.
Pictures? I left my camera with Dawn so she could use it for reference work on the commissions. I went to Dawn's penthouse and got her 3 megapix camera. If I can get that working easy I will post pictures and if not I will ask my friends to send me some. In the meantime you get what I have on my computer.
.
Hope you enjoy the picture of me AGAIN in the Aston Martin. I know I certainly am enjoying it:)
.
Wish I didn't have a hangover! I have a lot of catching up to do today and wish I wasn't bothered by it.
.
I changed the time that my maid comes in from 9am to 10am but of course today she shows up at 9:(. Guess she missed me.
.
One of the things I have to deal with is my mail in the US. I had asked my wife to go to my house to get some check for me to deposit them into a checking account. She emailed me that the checks never got there. She contacts the post office and finds out that my mail has been forwarded and they wouldnt give her the info.
.
I called up the guy in the Post Office worrying about Identity theft. So far it seems just that the USPO is screwing up and no one is trying to steal my identity. Hell they can have it! LOL
.
Now off to other things!
.
Hasta Pronto!

Ok Folks, just wanted to show off my borrowed wheels before I return to the DR and my Jeepeta that is falling apart:) I am driving the Rover today but this was my ride yesterday as the horseshow was closed and we tooled around to some of the farms.
Ok Guys, this is what you call a car! Nah, this ain't no car, it is a Rocketship!
I return tomorrow to the DR. Dawn has extended her stay to do some life work on 3 commissions we were able to get while in Florida so she won't be back for a while. I think she has forsaken her country once again! LOL
.
I can't wait to return. Perhaps some good things have happened while I was off doing sculpture business!

another dog in paradise

This doggy is a favorite of the Horse Show Circuit along with the Jack Russel Terrier. I would like Dawn to Sculpt both of these actually and I will be taking photos while here of these breeds of dogs.
.
Dawn may stay in Florida longer to start doing some work on a few commissions. We will see on Monday when we go to a patrons farm to firm up a couple of commissions. Why pay another airfare if it can get done on the same one that took her to the states?
.
Panera Bread Company is our new hangout. Coffee and internet, how good can it get. Off to the Horse Show at the Palm Beach Polo Club after.
Hasta Pronto!

Dawn's business...

This is a picture of Dawn with a couple that represent her work on the Horse Show Circuit.

.

We had dinner with them last night in Wellington. Last time we had dinner with them was at the Harrisburg International Horse Show in Harrisburg Pennsylvania about 1 year ago.

.

We had a great evening talking about business and telling stories and a good time was had by all.

.

The business end of this trip has been very successful. Up in Ocala we are working on a commission of a Canadian Race Horse which is owned by 10 people. We are trying to determine how many of the consortium will want a bronze of their champion race horse in order to finalize the commission and price.

.

While up in Ocala a Gallery that represents Dawns work purchased a Sculpture of a Pony and Child called "First Love" outright and placed another order for another Sculpture of "Tumbling Kits" which is an older piece of Dawns.

.

Back down at the Polo Club we are finalizing 3 commissions. Two are of Full Size horses and another is 1/4 lifesize. I have already started photographing the horse for reference and Dawn is going to start a Head Study of another horse. These commissions and the sales of limited editions should give Dawn a years worth of work but I am going to keep going and work her butt off:)

.

More later!

Hasta Pronto!

Ok so it isn't the Beautiful Dominican Republic!

Well I finally have a chance to sit down and write a bit for the blog. The house I am borrowing has a maid coming in today to clean so off to Panera we go to drink coffee, eat pastries and surf the internet while the maid cleans. It has been a very busy week here in Florida for Dawn and me. I was supposed to get in on the 14th which was the same day Dawn was supposed to arrive from Montana where she was casting bronzes and we were coming in 1/2 hour apart. I hired a limo to pick us up and take us to Boca Raton where I have borrowed my friends home, car, music and everything else he owned:) My flight was cancelled and I didn't get here till the 15th so Dawn took the limo all by herself and when the driver told her he didn't take credit cards he agreed to come back the next day. I had cash for Dawn in my pocket as planned but she was low on funds. I finally spoke with the Driver and arranged for him to pick us up on the 1st of March to return us to the Airport. Dawn will fly from Miami to Atlanta and then to Santo Domingo. Then onto a Caribbee Tours bus to Sosua. This is a crazy flight but she needed to do this to get to Montana on the first part of her trip. I fly into Puerto Plata that same day thank goodness as I hate to spend the day on planes and buses. I think I can speak for both of us when I say we will be happy to return to the Dominican Republic and our rice and beans. Yes I know, I, we are sincerely turning Dominican, but honestly if I have to eat any more of this crap food here I will be 400 pounds when I return. Ok folks, I am going to end this hear and start another piece with more pictures. Hasta Pronto!

Blogging away in Florida Land:)

Ok, you folks will think this hilarious but it was a big pain in the Ass.

.

While in Florida I am borrowing a friends home and cars. Great, right?

.

The home is beautiful and right on a lake and golf course, great right?

.

Cars... You will definately think this hilarious. One is a Range Rover. Car number 2 is an Astin Martin DB7. Cool, huh?

.

Someone stops me at a traffic light and says we have no tail lights on the Rover. I put on my 4 way flashers and continue to the movie theater because I don't remember when I last saw a first run movie. Get out of the car and take a look with the 4 way flashers off and I have NO TAIL LIGHTS. Screw it, we go and have Sushi and a movie and I will deal with this crap tomorrow.

.

12:30 am we get out of the movies and the stankin Rover won't start. Not only that but the battery is so dead the remote wont even open the doors. Finally see a Police car with flashers on so I hike over to get the number of a cab service to take us home. Officer calls for me and orders a cab. Half hour to forty five minutes they say. Hour later I call and they come half hour after that. Get home at 2:30 am and 35 bux later.

.

Next morning we get into the Aston Martin and head back to the movies to retrieve Rover. Call a service on the way there and another hour and a half wait so we go into the Marshalls in the shopping center to shop our asses off while we wait of course.

.

2.5 hours later truck comes and hooks up the jumper cables to the starter and I am able to open the door and bonnet to get a proper jump start. Varooooom battery is charging and engine is running and off we go. Return the Aston Martin to the Garage and head out to do some more shopping.

.

Go to Breast Buy and purchase a computer. Neat BTW Amd Turion is fast btw.

.

Have to return in one hour to pick up computer so they can install programs. Go somewhere else shopping (of course) and return to car but it wont start:(

.

Borrow jumper cables and get a jump. Head to Firestone service center for new battery. NO BATTERY FOR ROVERS. Go to Sears and NO BATTERY FOR ROVER. Go home and go to sleep. Wake up in the morning and call Rover. No appointments till the 24th of March. CRAP, speak to the manager and he agrees to change battery but won't do a rear bulb till the 24th. Go out to the car and freakin car wont start. Pull the Aston Martin out of the Garage and pull up to Rover and can't find a freaking battery in the DB7 and even look in the trunk. Finally get a Bell South Truck to give me a jump and off to the dealer. Convince the SOB to change rear bulb also.

.

$285 dollars later with new battery and light bulb I return to house. Try and lock the doors and the transmitter wont work and the key doesn't work in the door to lock and unlock. Call the dealer and ask him "YOU CHANGE A BATTERY AND DON'T REPROGRAM THE TRANSMITTER"??, we program the transmitter on the phone and still wont work. He says something is wrong with the computer. BS, it worked before I brought the piece of camel dung into your shop and $285 later it doesn't work. GRRRRRRR.... I hang up.

.

I can't lock the door:( Out go the computers, cameras, bronzes and anything else worth anything.

.

Don't let friends drive British cars!

Hasta Pronto!

To Fly or Not to Fly, that is the question!

This is a classic photo I needed to repost.

.

I spent from 2:30 to 8:30 at the Puerto Plata Airport in the Dominican Republic waiting to take a plane to Miami. It was raining and American Airlines finally canceled the flight.

.

Funny part about this was that they canceled it because of WEATHER and there were 6 other departures and arrivals between the time the flight was supposed to arrive and the time they canceled.

.

American didn't want to give out any vouchers for cabs, hotels or anything else. I have flown over 200,000 mile with American and I will now consider flying Continental to POP when I go to NY. I just hate starting all over again with the Frequent Flyer mile program and the other things in my bag of tricks that reduce my cost for flying but American is getting a bit annoying lately so I have to consider the competition. What really bothers me is that they just keep you waiting and don't tell you a thing which really pisses me off. Worse than that is when you call them on the phone they just lie to you.

.

Good thing is that I met a guy who was also on that flight who was a real nice guy. He is an architect working on a project here and very interesting to talk with. I am in the Real Estate field and enjoy hearing about projects and design and talking about the same. When we got canceled I called Niko the Commie to come pick us up and take us back to Sosua for the evening. We went to Dori's Restaurant at Eddys Sports Bar in Sosua for dinner which was delightful. I was starving and hadn't eaten all day and I was also exhausted from standing around the airport ALL DAMN DAY.

.

After 3 beers and a full belly things were starting to look better to me. Went out for another beer after dinner and then went home to pass out. Took Kyle the Architect to the airport this morning as he was going to try to get to NY through Puerto Rico first thing at 9am. He has been stuck here since Sunday because of the poor weather in NY and needed to return for appointments. I look forward to seeing him here in the Dominican Republic in the future as he returns for his project here.

.

Now my plane is leaving at 1:30 pm today and if it doesn't get my arse to Florida today I am going to go postal. It was unreasonable on AA's part the way it went down yesterday. I had a car at the airport in Miami to take me to Boca Raton and I just didn't get there and now have to make arrangements for today. Pain in the arse!

.

I am going to spend a couple of weeks in Florida going to Hunter Jumper Shows and also going to attend the Paso Fino show in Ocala which I am looking forward to. We do business there selling Bronze Sculptures that Dawn does and this should be a worthwhile trip for us. We have a rep that displays her work at the shows and a Gallery as well. Besides trying to book a bunch of business such as limited edition sales we also get commissions to do pieces for private collections which is a good combination. We are hoping to find a model to do a Freisian in a limited edition. Dawn will actually do some Life work and the horse and I will photograph the horse in detail both in digital stills and video so she can complete the piece back in the Dominican Republic.

.

Dawn is known mostly in the Sporting Art field and is a very popular artist and amoung the best living artists doing sporting art in the world today. Branching out into other breeds and also into other animals and people is our goal in the next several years. We plan on entering many show competions that are Juried this year to get some notoriety in other fields. I look forward to this challange and so does Dawn.

.

I love handicapping the competitions and am very good at it. I can always pick the horse that will finish 1st or 2nd. Last time I amazed Dawn when we were at the Washington International Horse Show and the Harrisburg International Horse Show. I handicapped about 95% of the winners in shows that ranged through many breeds.

.

Dawn asked me how I did it and I told her. I normally don't share things such as recipes mainly because I don't even know what exactly I throw into the mix nor do I keep track but with the handicapping it was easier to explain. I look to see how the horse moves. Usually if they move well their structure is where it is supposed to be. If they were out of shape in one way or the other they wouldnt be ABLE to move well. I use to show German Shepherds and that is how we were able to tell if the Dog was a good dog and figured that horses would be judged in the same manner. It worked great!

.

I will be posting pictures of the Horses and the shows we will attend in the next couple of weeks. I am not sure what my connectivity will be nor how much I will be posting but once it is up I think you will enjoy this two weeks of travel and writing.

.

Wish me luck in getting out of the Dominican Republic but since I just heard a plane taking off it should be ok. American Airlines better NOT delay me any further or they will lose a customer for sure today.

.

Hasta Pronto!
