These two ads are our first advertising campain to get traffic to our website. On the website there is a online auction of goods and services donated by both people in the Dominican Republic and abroad. This auction closes on Easter Sunday April 16th at 4pm. The highest bidders win the items.
Our last Auction which was held on Thanksgiving day raised over 6500 US dollars which is huge for here. With that money and in conjunction with Alberto Noesi, a Dominican Business man who owns Anoeca, a finance house in Puerto Plata we are opening up a Free Dental Clinic that will offer services first to Children and then to Adults time permitting. We, thanks to Alberto, have a building to use in Downtown Puerto Plata. We are beginning renovations with funds provided by Alberto and once done will purchase equiptment needed for the clinic, waiting room and offices.
We have already began the non profit incorporation process and the name of the company is going to be "Ninos Dominicanos" which is Dominican Kids in Spanish.
Please copy these ads and put them on your blogs and websites. Right click mouse, and then click "save picture as" . You will then have these on your computers and be able to upload to your site or file attach e mail them to your friends who can do the same.

A new place
Clinic in. I am not sure that it is actually and I believe this is the wrong building but I will figure this all out in the next week or so.
.
We are now getting the website ready and hopefully it will be up in the next couple of days. We are running kind of behind and these things always run up on you when you think you have all the time in the world.
.
If you or anyone you know who is generous is able to donate some money or goods or services to our Childrens Benefit please get in touch with me at Jazzpaging@yahoo.com.
.
With your help we can so some good things for the Kids and maybe even some adults on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic. We will be announcing the website very soon and hopefully we will be able to generate some serious interest in raising money and doing more than the Dental Clinic we are already working on. Who knows, if we generate enough funds this time around possibly we can expand the clinic and hire a Doctor.
.
All I know is that this is tremendously exciting and a great opportunity to do some good here in the Dominican Republic. Please remember that there is no social fall back infrastructure here to help people but we can put that in place here!
.
Tonight a bunch of us are getting together at Dori's Restaurant which is located inside of Eddys Sports Bar in Sosua. It is on the street right off the main street. Turn by Banco Reservas and Super Super Liquor Store! A bit more than halfway down the street on the Right hand side. We are going to be at least 16-20 so please join us!
Hasta Pronto!
PS>I put a new button on the side that will take you to Google to sign up for Adsense for your website. This will give you an opportunity to bring links to your site and everyone that clicks on it will make you some money. Check it out!Someone sent me this LOGO for Dawn. They said she can listen to this new station when she goes back to Montana.
.
Now I don't know about the rest of you guys but everytime I hear country music I feel like making love to my sister. It just rubs me the wrong way. I NEED rock and roll. Don't misunderstand, I like Jazz, Blues, Classical, some reggae, Ska and a whole lot more but Country? Gimme a break!
.
I had breakfast at Britannia again today. Eggs benedict. Good stuff. 135 pesos with Juice, Fruit cup, Coffee, Potatoes and of course the eggs up on a split English muffin with Ham and Hollandaise Sause. Good stuff!
.
A Brittish fellow came to the table to tell me he reads my blog religiously. That was nice and I thank you. Nice to know that you preach to someone and just don't talk to yourself. I also got email from Mary in Texas. Good to know you still read my drivel Mary!
Someone made this comment on the last bit.
"james said... do you really think this fellow got locked up all that time just because? there has to be something more to it. a fine upstanding community guy with a good job and could afford some of the best lawyers around. i see your point about it being scary and all and i have followed your blog since its start on that white pasty guys forum but you know yourself, your a bussiness man in the dominican whether you think so or not. you have to ask yourself how could you end up in that kind of trouble or that situation. this mans name wasn't pulled from a hat.love the blog, not slagging here. something just seems amiss here. "
.
I was just going to comment to the comment but felt I needed to expand a bit more and make the rest of you read it instead of having to go to the comments first.
.
I read the article in question in the Miami Herald. It wasn't on a website DRblahblah where you see lots of nonsense. This is what I think may be a respectable publication. Now, do I believe everything they say in the papers? Hell NO! Papers are less likely going to print correct info than the Government here will refuse a bribe! That being said, the newspaper article said that there was false evidence provided the court and it was all nonsense. They went further to say that they present government of the Dominican Republic was just trying to discredit the previous government.
.
I was hoping for some further info and actually get a better handle on this. If you take the time to read the article you will see what I am saying and what scares me. Terrible business this!
.
I had two friends come in from NY today. Actually I had 4 friends come in from NY but I picked up only 2 because I didn't have enough room. Debbie who I picked up yesterday picked up 2 of the people I couldn't accomodate. Welcome home Herman, Bill, Mario and Howard.
.
I had dinner with 2 of my friends in Costambar tonight at Cafe Negril. Had that Sea Bass with Saffron sauce and it was GREAT!
.
Tomorrow or actually tonight, Friday, a whole bunch of us are having dinner at Dori's Restaurant in Eddys Sports Bar. So far we have Debbie and Brian, Herman and Bill, Howard, Mario and dates, Niko the Commie, Me, Rob and Sandy from Taco Tuesday and possibly another buddy of mine Ted and Grahame and Robin, and last but not least, Herbert who flies in tomorrow and I am picking up at the airport.. 16 people as starters. If you are in town and want to hang out with us just show up at 7pm for dinner. You will be welcomed.
.
Thats all folks!

This is real Scary! It could happen to anyone!
Last night I went to Taco Tuesday with Lorraine and Ray who live in the same condo complex I live in.
.
For the first time that I can remember there were more people I didn't know there then there were people I do know. Heck most times there are more people I have recommended to go there, there, then others in total. The folks that own Checkpoint Bar on Beachway Plaza in Sosua were there along with JR who I knew but heck the rest I had no clue about.
.
I usually am the first person there at Taco Tuesdays. I like getting there early so I can just soak up the view of the ocean and the atmosphere while it is quiet and before I have to be a social animal. Last night there were 20 people there before me. When my friends Camden Tom and Mary got to the joint which was fairly early, the food was all gone. They had to go somewhere else for dinner but stayed for a few beers.
.
Man, I leave town for 2 weeks along with the owners of the place and it becomes the most popular gig on the North Coast! Rob and Sandy have been in Seatle for about 3 weeks at their daughters wedding but return Thursday. Someone should call them and tell them to stay so they can make money! LOL
.
Today Brian and Debbie arrive from Canada and I will be picking them up at the plane. Tomorrow I have another 2 groups of friends coming down and I had to recruit Brian and Debbie to help me round them all up from the Airport. Whoopie, more people to hang with!
.
Friday at 7pm a bunch of us are going to have dinner at Dori's Restaurant in Eddys Sports Bar in Sosua. So far Tom, Mary, Niko and myself and possibly Grahame and Robin are coming. I am sure that Debbie, Brian, Herman, my two friends coming tomorrow and a whole bunch more will be there. Whoopie, a dinner party! If you want to join us just show up at Eddys!

Little bit of Dis and little bit of Dat!
My friend Shad in Toronto sent me this picture of a Aston Martin which is exactly like the car I used in Florida with the exception of mine was in British Racing Green which I have been told is the only colour to have one of these babies in. He said he had it on his desk and he was pissed that I was actually driving one of these bad boys.
.
I know he was only kidding and he sent this to me to keep until I returned to Florida. Shad is a decent guy any day of the week and petty jealousy is not part of him or his being! Funny thing about having this car to drive and also having something bigger in the same garage after driving it the first time I drove the other car until the day before I left. I felt that it was almost obligatory to drive that bad boy once again. I am thankful to my buddy that gave me the opportunity to even see this car for the first time in my life that I can remember. All that being said next time with a Range Rover and an Aston Martin in the Driveway I will get into the Rover for reasons I am not sure I even understand.
.
That friend who lovingly provided a roof over my head and cars to drive when I was in Florida is coming this week to the Dominican Republic along with another real nice fellow and I can't wait to see them! Great guy and very pleasant company always and a treat to have around always! He is a golfer and pays 1000 US a month for his golf membership in Florida where he rarely goes. He spends a lot of time here in the Dominican Republic and was here 5-8 weeks ago last. It is a treat for me to see him here. I always try to hook up with him in the States when I am there and here we hang out for days instead of an evening for dinner and drinks which suits me better.
.
Today I have an airport pick up of a guy from Canada who has stayed in my condo several times but since my friends are coming down I can't put him up this trip but I felt like picking his stanky arse up from the airport anyway. He gets in at 11:30 am which is great because at 1pm I am going to a friends Bbq up in Puerto Plata which I am looking forward to. It all works out for me timewise today and I don't have to do the racing around that causes stress. Great!
.
This week I have several friends coming to town. Debbie and Brian, Herman, Ted, Mario and Howard and probably a few more that I forgot already. Be great to see them all and do some hanging out and sharing meals. My boy Dori who has the restaurant in Eddys Sports Bar will be a busy guy with everyone in town. When I was in Florida I have loads of Thai and Sushi so I have been only had Salads and Fish and Chips since Wednesdays return. I am looking forward to Dori's Thai Curry and Japanese Noodle dishes. They are my favorite meals on the Island!
.
I will hang out with Carina at the Bbq today and discuss how we are going to get the Auction done and promote both the dinner and the auction. Hopefully between Carina, Jackie and myself we can make some headway with the upcoming project. Please remember if you have any goods and services to donate or even cold cash drop me a line. This is the rush now since it is coming up quickly so reach down deep and please help out our efforts. We should also know where the past money is going to be used by next week. I am pretty sure it will be outfitting a free dental clinic and office building that will offer free space to professionals that will also give out free health services. Matter of fact, my friend Jillian is a speech therapist who is getting fluent in Spanish. Maybe I can talk to her about donating some of her time when she is here. I am actually sure that would be no problem as she is a fine person. She was my daughters FIRST baby sitter. My wife and Jillian were doing the speech and hearing masters at the same time and we had all Masters Students as babysitters. My daughter was a lucky gal!
.
Thats about it for today folks, hope you have a smashing Sunday. Here in the Dominican Republic the weather is real nice although at about 3am I heard torrential showers. I look forward to seeing friends at the Bbq today and hanging out getting fat!:)
.
Hasta Pronto!
PS> I made $4.43 yesterday with the google adsense. You guys bought me a real nice breakfast this morning!:)

Easter Dinner in the Dominican Republic
Yeah, here is another picture of Dominican Republic Electric. This is one of the calmer streets and had the most normal wire job I have seen here.
.
I went to Cabrera today to take care of some business. I stopped off at my friend Stephan Shadleys Farm to say hi to him and his family. They are doing well and that was nice to see!
.
The road from before Gaspar Hernandez to after Rio San Juan were absolutely horrible and just about dangerous. This government should be ashamed at what the main road on the whole North Coast looks like and the danger they are putting the people in here. Great way to stimulate tourism GUYS. I guess that is why I read in Http://www.dominicantoday.com that tourism is down everywhere but Punta Cana. Those fools better wake up and smell the roses. If tourism goes there AIN'T much left.
.
Got the menu for the Easter Dinner today. Here it is below along with the price.
.Food:Dori's Restaurant located right in Eddys Sports Bar

Salad Bar 8-10 kinds of salad,. .
From the Grill. .

399 $ RD per person OF which 74 Pesos goes to the Kids. . This is the second fundraiser I along with a bunch of other people have put on. First one was on Thanksgiving where we raised over $6500 US dollars which is HUGE for this country. We already have people donate 1500 US dollars towards this event along with a lot of goods and services. We had a $500 Voucher for Foxwoods Resorts and Casino, Dinner for 2 at Peter Lugars and many more things from the US and Many many things from the Dominican Republic. . If yo want to donate goods or services or even Cash please contact me at jazzpaging@yahoo.com and I will forward this to the right person for inclusion. Please help us help the poor children of the North Coast of the Dominican Republic! If you want to speak with me you can call me at 809-223-1178 on my cell phone or at 845-810-0212 which is a New York number that rings at my home in the Dominican Republic. . The Radio Station 92.5 Rubi Closed it's Doors Recently so we can't depend on them to help out promoting this so we are going to promote this on blogs and on different message boards. We probably won't be posting on DR1 since the pasty white boy Robert got upset when I wouldn't let him direct the money we already raised for the kids to go to the benefit of the reefs here. I couldnt let that happen because I promoted the kids and don't want to look like a fool and NOT help the kids here. I don't really care although the message board was a great help last time and we will probably not do as well as the last time because of Roberts immaturity. Guess it was all about him and how many BROWNIE Points he could have gotten instead of what is good for the poor kids of this country.
. Hasta Pronto!
Sleazed out
Yeah ok, so your have seen this classic picture of Dominican Electric before. Gimme a break, my camera is in Florida with Dawn being used hopefully for business.Friday, March 03, 2006
You don't know JACK!
This picture is of Dawn putting down some pictures on a table next to a sculpture of a horse that she had been previously commissioned to do that was a gold medal winner in the Olympics in the house of the person that rode her in Athens. Thursday, March 02, 2006
As Arnold once said...
Tuesday, February 28, 2006
I return tomorrow to the DR. Dawn has extended her stay to do some life work on 3 commissions we were able to get while in Florida so she won't be back for a while. I think she has forsaken her country once again! LOLSaturday, February 25, 2006
another dog in paradise
This doggy is a favorite of the Horse Show Circuit along with the Jack Russel Terrier. I would like Dawn to Sculpt both of these actually and I will be taking photos while here of these breeds of dogs.Friday, February 24, 2006
Dawn's business...
This is a picture of Dawn with a couple that represent her work on the Horse Show Circuit.
.
We had dinner with them last night in Wellington. Last time we had dinner with them was at the Harrisburg International Horse Show in Harrisburg Pennsylvania about 1 year ago.
.
We had a great evening talking about business and telling stories and a good time was had by all.
.
The business end of this trip has been very successful. Up in Ocala we are working on a commission of a Canadian Race Horse which is owned by 10 people. We are trying to determine how many of the consortium will want a bronze of their champion race horse in order to finalize the commission and price.
.
While up in Ocala a Gallery that represents Dawns work purchased a Sculpture of a Pony and Child called "First Love" outright and placed another order for another Sculpture of "Tumbling Kits" which is an older piece of Dawns.
.
Back down at the Polo Club we are finalizing 3 commissions. Two are of Full Size horses and another is 1/4 lifesize. I have already started photographing the horse for reference and Dawn is going to start a Head Study of another horse. These commissions and the sales of limited editions should give Dawn a years worth of work but I am going to keep going and work her butt off:)
.
More later!

Ok so it isn't the Beautiful Dominican Republic!
Well I finally have a chance to sit down and write a bit for the blog. The house I am borrowing has a maid coming in today to clean so off to Panera we go to drink coffee, eat pastries and surf the internet while the maid cleans.
It has been a very busy week here in Florida for Dawn and me. I was supposed to get in on the 14th which was the same day Dawn was supposed to arrive from Montana where she was casting bronzes and we were coming in 1/2 hour apart.
I hired a limo to pick us up and take us to Boca Raton where I have borrowed my friends home, car, music and everything else he owned:) My flight was cancelled and I didn't get here till the 15th so Dawn took the limo all by herself and when the driver told her he didn't take credit cards he agreed to come back the next day. I had cash for Dawn in my pocket as planned but she was low on funds. I finally spoke with the Driver and arranged for him to pick us up on the 1st of March to return us to the Airport.
Dawn will fly from Miami to Atlanta and then to Santo Domingo. Then onto a Caribbee Tours bus to Sosua. This is a crazy flight but she needed to do this to get to Montana on the first part of her trip.
I fly into Puerto Plata that same day thank goodness as I hate to spend the day on planes and buses.
I think I can speak for both of us when I say we will be happy to return to the Dominican Republic and our rice and beans. Yes I know, I, we are sincerely turning Dominican, but honestly if I have to eat any more of this crap food here I will be 400 pounds when I return.
Ok folks, I am going to end this hear and start another piece with more pictures.
Hasta Pronto!Blogging away in Florida Land:)
Ok, you folks will think this hilarious but it was a big pain in the Ass.
.
While in Florida I am borrowing a friends home and cars. Great, right?
.
The home is beautiful and right on a lake and golf course, great right?
.
Cars... You will definately think this hilarious. One is a Range Rover. Car number 2 is an Astin Martin DB7. Cool, huh?
.
Someone stops me at a traffic light and says we have no tail lights on the Rover. I put on my 4 way flashers and continue to the movie theater because I don't remember when I last saw a first run movie. Get out of the car and take a look with the 4 way flashers off and I have NO TAIL LIGHTS. Screw it, we go and have Sushi and a movie and I will deal with this crap tomorrow.
.
12:30 am we get out of the movies and the stankin Rover won't start. Not only that but the battery is so dead the remote wont even open the doors. Finally see a Police car with flashers on so I hike over to get the number of a cab service to take us home. Officer calls for me and orders a cab. Half hour to forty five minutes they say. Hour later I call and they come half hour after that. Get home at 2:30 am and 35 bux later.
.
Next morning we get into the Aston Martin and head back to the movies to retrieve Rover. Call a service on the way there and another hour and a half wait so we go into the Marshalls in the shopping center to shop our asses off while we wait of course.
.
2.5 hours later truck comes and hooks up the jumper cables to the starter and I am able to open the door and bonnet to get a proper jump start. Varooooom battery is charging and engine is running and off we go. Return the Aston Martin to the Garage and head out to do some more shopping.
.
Go to Breast Buy and purchase a computer. Neat BTW Amd Turion is fast btw.
.
Have to return in one hour to pick up computer so they can install programs. Go somewhere else shopping (of course) and return to car but it wont start:(
.
Borrow jumper cables and get a jump. Head to Firestone service center for new battery. NO BATTERY FOR ROVERS. Go to Sears and NO BATTERY FOR ROVER. Go home and go to sleep. Wake up in the morning and call Rover. No appointments till the 24th of March. CRAP, speak to the manager and he agrees to change battery but won't do a rear bulb till the 24th. Go out to the car and freakin car wont start. Pull the Aston Martin out of the Garage and pull up to Rover and can't find a freaking battery in the DB7 and even look in the trunk. Finally get a Bell South Truck to give me a jump and off to the dealer. Convince the SOB to change rear bulb also.
.
$285 dollars later with new battery and light bulb I return to house. Try and lock the doors and the transmitter wont work and the key doesn't work in the door to lock and unlock. Call the dealer and ask him "YOU CHANGE A BATTERY AND DON'T REPROGRAM THE TRANSMITTER"??, we program the transmitter on the phone and still wont work. He says something is wrong with the computer. BS, it worked before I brought the piece of camel dung into your shop and $285 later it doesn't work. GRRRRRRR.... I hang up.
.
I can't lock the door:( Out go the computers, cameras, bronzes and anything else worth anything.
.
Don't let friends drive British cars!
Hasta Pronto!

To Fly or Not to Fly, that is the question!
This is a classic photo I needed to repost.
.
I spent from 2:30 to 8:30 at the Puerto Plata Airport in the Dominican Republic waiting to take a plane to Miami. It was raining and American Airlines finally canceled the flight.
.
Funny part about this was that they canceled it because of WEATHER and there were 6 other departures and arrivals between the time the flight was supposed to arrive and the time they canceled.
.
American didn't want to give out any vouchers for cabs, hotels or anything else. I have flown over 200,000 mile with American and I will now consider flying Continental to POP when I go to NY. I just hate starting all over again with the Frequent Flyer mile program and the other things in my bag of tricks that reduce my cost for flying but American is getting a bit annoying lately so I have to consider the competition. What really bothers me is that they just keep you waiting and don't tell you a thing which really pisses me off. Worse than that is when you call them on the phone they just lie to you.
.
Good thing is that I met a guy who was also on that flight who was a real nice guy. He is an architect working on a project here and very interesting to talk with. I am in the Real Estate field and enjoy hearing about projects and design and talking about the same. When we got canceled I called Niko the Commie to come pick us up and take us back to Sosua for the evening. We went to Dori's Restaurant at Eddys Sports Bar in Sosua for dinner which was delightful. I was starving and hadn't eaten all day and I was also exhausted from standing around the airport ALL DAMN DAY.
.
After 3 beers and a full belly things were starting to look better to me. Went out for another beer after dinner and then went home to pass out. Took Kyle the Architect to the airport this morning as he was going to try to get to NY through Puerto Rico first thing at 9am. He has been stuck here since Sunday because of the poor weather in NY and needed to return for appointments. I look forward to seeing him here in the Dominican Republic in the future as he returns for his project here.
.
Now my plane is leaving at 1:30 pm today and if it doesn't get my arse to Florida today I am going to go postal. It was unreasonable on AA's part the way it went down yesterday. I had a car at the airport in Miami to take me to Boca Raton and I just didn't get there and now have to make arrangements for today. Pain in the arse!
.
I am going to spend a couple of weeks in Florida going to Hunter Jumper Shows and also going to attend the Paso Fino show in Ocala which I am looking forward to. We do business there selling Bronze Sculptures that Dawn does and this should be a worthwhile trip for us. We have a rep that displays her work at the shows and a Gallery as well. Besides trying to book a bunch of business such as limited edition sales we also get commissions to do pieces for private collections which is a good combination. We are hoping to find a model to do a Freisian in a limited edition. Dawn will actually do some Life work and the horse and I will photograph the horse in detail both in digital stills and video so she can complete the piece back in the Dominican Republic.
.
Dawn is known mostly in the Sporting Art field and is a very popular artist and amoung the best living artists doing sporting art in the world today. Branching out into other breeds and also into other animals and people is our goal in the next several years. We plan on entering many show competions that are Juried this year to get some notoriety in other fields. I look forward to this challange and so does Dawn.
.
I love handicapping the competitions and am very good at it. I can always pick the horse that will finish 1st or 2nd. Last time I amazed Dawn when we were at the Washington International Horse Show and the Harrisburg International Horse Show. I handicapped about 95% of the winners in shows that ranged through many breeds.
.
Dawn asked me how I did it and I told her. I normally don't share things such as recipes mainly because I don't even know what exactly I throw into the mix nor do I keep track but with the handicapping it was easier to explain. I look to see how the horse moves. Usually if they move well their structure is where it is supposed to be. If they were out of shape in one way or the other they wouldnt be ABLE to move well. I use to show German Shepherds and that is how we were able to tell if the Dog was a good dog and figured that horses would be judged in the same manner. It worked great!
.
I will be posting pictures of the Horses and the shows we will attend in the next couple of weeks. I am not sure what my connectivity will be nor how much I will be posting but once it is up I think you will enjoy this two weeks of travel and writing.
.
Wish me luck in getting out of the Dominican Republic but since I just heard a plane taking off it should be ok. American Airlines better NOT delay me any further or they will lose a customer for sure today.
.
Hasta Pronto!
