I have been a busy guy...

I have been a very busy guy this week. I am in the process of renovating a restaurant I purchased and I start at 8am every day and don't stop till all the workers stop for the day. . On my other computer I am detailing the renovation with a daily and I will post it as soon as I am finished.. . In the mean time I have the floor being completely redone, the dropped wood ceiling being removed and new paint being applied everywhere. . That is just for starters. I am building a store front to the rear of the restaurant facing the pool and hotel, making larger womans bathroom with mirrors and a vanity, doing to upper part of the bar with smoked glass, lights and a mirror back. I am refinishing the furniture in different colors, the cushions redone and a 10 foot sofa being built in. . Hopefully I will re-open the restaurant in 3-6 more weeks of constant work but, you never know. All I know is that when I am finished I will have something I like and so will you and if you don't I will have to hurt you! LOL . Sorry if my postings aren't regular some times and the pictures don't get posted every day but I will add stuff as time allows. . I was at the attorneys today and took a deposit on the original site for QuiXotes and will close next month. . Check out http://www.dominicankids.com as we are adding things to the monthly auction just about every day. These auctions last for 30 days and you can find some interesting things. . Latest item is a day on a ship that will sail out of Confresi and go either to Sosua or Luperon for the day. This cruise will be for 8 people and has a value of over 4000 US dollars. You will not only get to enjoy the day and your party of friends but you will also get to hang out with Darlene who was able to aquire this for us and myself that day. . We raised over 8000 US dollars on the Auction that closed on Easter Sunday and that was without the help of 92.5 Rubi FM because they were off the air at the time and without the help of a website that let us promote last time. They wouldn't let us promote there this time because I wouldn't let the money go to the reefs as the owner of the website wanted when I raised the money to benefit Children of the North Coast. When I told him that it wasn't going to happen he got a bit upset with me and even banned me from the site. We are building a Free Dental Clinic in Puerto Plata instead which I think is money better spent and so do the other people that were active in raising money for both events. Well even without him and his site went 20 % over our last years auction which was a great success and we raised 6500 US dollars. . The only place we were hurt was the attendence at the dinner. Guess that website is good to get people to eat although not to get people to donate goods and services and also to bid on stuff. We did better without them so no complaints from me. Perhaps next time we will get support from Rubi 92.5 and other websites that appreciate what we are doing. . Perhaps Dominicantoday.com will help to promote us next time around. Probably get more people to eat also:) . Hasta Pronto!

New Restaurant "QuiXote's Diner"

This is the site of the NEW QuiXote's Diner. It is in the Hotel Europa on Calle Pedro Clisante which is the main street of El Batey, Sosua, Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. This is the HEART and SOUL of the North Coast! The restaurant is now closed and in the process of being renovated from Bop to Tottem. New Floors start tomorrow, new Rear Entranceis currently started and the glass doors and side panels are ordered and will be installed in 10 days.
.
This is going to be an interesting project and I am looking forward to it. The restaurant currently seats 48 and 16 at the bar.
.
I am going to add hi speed wireless internet which is already ordered, free calls to the US and Canada with a minimum check and the largest selection of liquors on the North Coast to just name a few of the things I am working on.
.
Hopefully the opening is going to be 4-6 weeks. Time will tell and as many of you know getting work done in the Dominican Republic is sometimes very very difficult but patience is a virtue and I have plenty. As long as there is work being done every day I am ok with this.
You will NOT recognize the place if you have been inside of it before. The difference will amaze you and hopefully entice you to come often and stay long.
Hasta Pronto!
