More good stuff!

Great stuff is going on for the kids on the North Coast and it is moving so fast it is hard for me to keep up with it. First of all the items for the online auction are coming in fast and furious. I want to thank everyone who has stepped up to the plate to help out. You guys are the BEST! .
A bunch of the best people around are getting involved in many ways and not just sitting on their butts waiting for others to do all the work and I have to say the networking and cooperation has gone beyond our wildest expectations.
.
I have one friend who has promised to look into writing grants for education at a University in North Carolina to benefit the Dominican Republic. She is going to try to attach a grant to one that has already been approved to teach Science in Classrooms. Wouldn't it be great if we could teach recycling here and sanitation? Just the thought of how to empower these kids for their futures is exciting!
.
Another friend is working on a Foundation to include us in a % of money raised. Another friend is working on another Foundation also.
.
Another friend is working on having donated Dental equipment that is being traded in. Heck 20 year old stuff is state of the art in this country!
.
Another friend is working on the Board of Directors of the company he works for to kick in.
.
Now all these people have also flat out donated their heart earned cash as well as goods and services to the cause to begin with.
.
When we first started I would have liked to do education as a priorty. When we raised 6500 US dollars it was a start but to do anything in any way that would affect many kids wasn't in the cards with so little money although it was a great successful event. To hold onto the money and not get it working would have pissed off our donators since we all like to see what comes out of what we do. We would have been able to put maybe 4-5 kids in a decent school. With the clinic we can help 20 kids or more a day, 5.5 days a week, 52 weeks a year. We do more for many more but this is only doing repairs instead of enabling them to help themselves at some point.
.
With the Educational grants we are aiming for it is possible to affect more than just a little change here for the poor children of the Dominican Republic. Perhaps if we can get some money from different foundations we can expand on the clinic to give other services with the money we are putting together in the events.
.
I found out that Rubi 92.5 is going to be up and running again on the 1st of April. This will bring back the Rock and Roll local expat music we all love. It will once again be streamed on the internet also so you can listen to it on the internet. I spoke to the owner last night and he will help us in our efforts to make the auction and dinner even more successful. This is good news to me and to the benefit.
.
Sign up for the dinner now folks. Please dont wait to the last minute. I have spoken to lots of people who are going to be there but you all need to sign up.

Dori told me the reason for the change was because 4 out of 5 dishes he sold on a menu of 30 items were the 3 Thai dishes he had. This is a good idea to let your customers tell you what they want on the menu!
.
Me, I love Thai food. I think Dori is the best Thai Chef around and I am almost embarrassed to say that I probably eat there 3 nights a week. Perhaps because the waitress takes a liking to me may have something to do with it! LOL
.
Tomorrow I am going to Santo Domingo to pick Dawn up. She is finally returning to the DR from the United States after a few months both in Montana casting Bronzes and in Florida doing Life work on commissions of Race Horses. We are going to try and get some business done while we are there in the Capital with some of the Galleries there.
.
Dawns trip was very successful. Besides the Commissions one of her pieces was sold to the King of Saudi Arabia and shipped via private plane. Several other of her edition pieces were also sold!
.
I usually stay at the Courtyard and even stayed there last Friday but they were booked up today. I had to book at the Intercontinental on the Malecon. I called the Hilton and they were booked up also. What the hell are they giving away in the Capital? Never had a hard time getting a room before!
.
Ok, don't expect to see anything tomorrow and possibly not the day after till I return.
.
Keep the cards and letters rolling in regards to the Auction Puleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese!
.
Hasta Pronto!
ps> I had a phone interview this weekend and had a AP Photographer with me half the day taking pictures. I will let you know when the story comes out. Hopefully we get a plug for the Childrens Benefit!
